The information published on NanoTankHQ is provided for educational and informational purposes only. By using this site, you agree to the terms below.

No Veterinary Advice

NanoTankHQ publishes husbandry information: water chemistry, cycling, stocking, feeding, and maintenance practice from the author’s own tanks. It is not veterinary advice, and we deliberately do not publish disease-diagnosis or medication protocols. Aquatic animals are living creatures with welfare that depends on correct care. If your fish or shrimp show signs of disease, distress, or unexplained deaths, consult an aquatic veterinarian or qualified livestock specialist — early, not after the third loss. Prevention through stable parameters is the part we can help with; treatment belongs with professionals.

No Professional Advice

The methods, parameter targets, and equipment verdicts on this site reflect what worked in the author’s tanks, with his water, logged over years. They are not professional aquaculture, biology, or engineering guidance. Species parameter ranges are stated from common hobbyist references and the author’s experience — always cross-check against multiple sources before acquiring livestock.

Equipment and Home Safety

Aquariums put water next to mains electricity and several hundred kilograms of load on furniture. Always follow manufacturer instructions for heaters, filters, lights, and pressurized CO2 systems; use drip loops; verify heater behavior with a separate thermometer; and place tanks on stands rated for their filled weight. The manufacturer’s manual always takes precedence over anything written here.

Results May Vary

Your source water, your bioload, and your maintenance rhythm are not ours. A routine that holds a tank stable in soft Swedish tap water may need adjusting for yours. Use our logs and routines as a method to copy, not numbers to copy blindly — and test your own water, because guessing is how small tanks fail.
